If you don't care, then just avert your eyes

Basically, I love my HTM 112 class. Today, we were allowed to be as creative as we want; we only had one basic recipe to follow and then we could do whatever else we wanted. Like, my partner and I had hummus as our base, and then we made three variations of it. It was so cool! We made one like a Greek style with olives, feta cheese, red onions, cilantro, fresh lemon juice, and olive oil mixed in. Then we made one with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and parsley. Finally, the weird one, we added cinammon, honey, brown sugar, and vanilla extract and then served it with green apple slices. The sweet one was actually my favorite and who knew you could turn hummus into like a dessert dip?? I was so proud of us. The other group had like a cream cheese dip that they transformed into 91823740 things, it was ridiculous but yummy. What did they make... they made like a cream cheese roll with the dip, chocolate chips, puff pastry, and granola on top. They made a salsa dip, a pineapple-cream cheese dip, a veggie pizza that we put smoked salmon on top of hehe, empanadas, and some crab dip. It was crazy, we had so much food. Seriously, this class never seems like it's 3 hours long; it goes by sooo fast. I love it:-)

Tomorrow's the ASB Bake Sale, for which I made cinnamon-sugar cookies. They're also quite yummy, I'm kinda proud of myself.

We're also going sledding tomorrow, finally!! Yay! I love my friends.

The end haha

Well almost the end )

Hey that was fun, thanks Brandon.

I've come to some sort of revelation...

Basically, I've decided that I'm in my own head wayyyyy too much. I'm always worrying about what could potentially go wrong in my life or trying too hard  to fix the unfixable problems that have already occurred. I'm really sick of thinking like this. It honestly makes me not like myself quite a bit, and I'm also starting to realize that that's not good either.

So, my solution to all of this is to put most of the energy that I would normally put into worrying/skepticism/ or most other things with a negative connotation into helping other people. Now, I've always thought I was a kind-hearted person, someone who actually cared about the people around me, and  I still think that. The difference is that now I'm choosing to actually do something with that gift instead of just thinking about doing it.

It's hard to explain and it's 3am, but I'm pretty excited about it:-)

Oh Grand Valley...

It's very rare that I find anything all that humorous or even helpful on one of the gvsu.edu websites. This, however, totally takes the cake:

What do students expect of an SWS course?
Who really knows what students expect? Faculty are the last to know. We can only surmise what their expectations will be.

Man, that made my day just a little bit brighter, not gonna lie.

Only an hour and fifteen minutes left to waste...

Hehe

So I got all my books today for next semester, and I have to say that my HTM 112 book is gi-frickin-normous but it's so cool! I can't wait for this class. HTM 112 has a lecture and a lab, and it's basically a cooking class. Yay! This book is so awesome; like every food group has its own chapter, and there are all kinds of crazy recipes in it too. So neat.

Yeah I'm a nerd, but seriously this book is awesome.

And I'm done.

"I shared my puddin' witchu, man. I gave you my Snack Pack!"

"Meghan, sometimes you have to learn how to be selfish. It's like when you're on an airplane and the masks drop down: they always tell you to put yours on first before you put on your neighbor's. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DIE!"

I can always count on Jeffrey for a much-needed perspective on life lol. Seriously, though, I had fun tonight. I haven't had fun in...forever. We went downtown and he showed his apartment, then he showed me the one he's gonna live in next year. Then we went to Greektown and had dinner at Pegasus, a restaurant I've never been to before. It was delish. Then we just kind of walked around and we ended up at the really cute outside ice rink. We were gonna go ice skating but they were closing in 10 minutes, so they weren't renting skates anymore. We're gonna go next week, so it's all good. It's really fun just watching and waiting for people to fall on their asses. But yeah that part of Detroit was really pretty with all the lights and there's this big Christmas tree right by it. Then we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and got dessert. I kind of forgot they built an HRC downtown, and it's really, really small. It was exciting, and it was just nice to see him because I haven't seen or talked to him in such a long time.

So for tonight, I am good:-)

Maybe I can do this...

So, for whatever reason, I've been thinking up recipes in my head. I'm kind of a freak like that. I decided that cranberry-almond muffins would taste really, really good, but I never thought I'd make them though. Today came around, however, and I was in the mood to be domestic. So I bought all the stuff... the dried cranberries, the almonds, the sugar, etc... and I started to make them. Then, I decided that an orange glaze *Yes, I stole that idea from Sara Kubiak when she brought in her muffins to Hell Week last Fall* would also be good on that so I got the oranges and the powdered sugar. Long story short, they turned out really, really yummy and I'm pretty damned impressed with myself right now.

Ok, I guess now would be the appropriate time to say "long story short". I'm very apprehensive about my current career choice after GVSU, which really isn't a career at all. I'm thinking of going to pastry school or culinary school, whichever, and the idea just sounds insane to me. I don't really think I'll be able to do it, but these muffins... they must mean something. I mean, I didn't use a muffin mix, I did them from scratch. Granted, they are just muffins, and pretty insignifant as far as skill level goes, but still... I made them! All on my own! And they haven't made anyone want to vomit! That has GOT to mean something.

No one make fun of me for this... it's pretty much all the confidence I've got right now lol

"Let's go and get tangled in chains of golden days..."

Oh life... what's been goin' on?

* The dance shows were good, not the best, but good. I got to know some of the girls better this time around, which is awesome. I was definitely extremely happy with the way my dance turned out, it was my favorite of the 3 I've done. Next semester, "Love Heals", baby. Also, a thousand and five thanks go out to Cassie, Ellen, Justin, Erika, Susan, Bri, EB, and Amanda for coming to watch. That meant a lot to me, you guys, and I'm so happy you didn't mind paying the $5 ticket lol.

* I'm ridiculously proud of all those crazy STAGE kids who had their shows this past weekend. It was seriously the best SOAP/STAGE performance I've been to; you guys rock. :-)

* Finals can suck it. That is all.

* I was kind of really excited to go sledding on Thursday, but it's pretty darned impossible to do that without snow. Silly Michigan, why can't we depend on you for the one thing you're good for?

* The new The Damnwells CD (Air Stereo) is pretty cool. I recommend it.

* I kind of don't want to go home for break. Well no, I want to go home, just not to the Twip. The Twip can also suck it.

* Spring Break is going to be amazing, I can't wait for March!

Basically what it all comes down to is my friends are the best:-)

This is really long )

The B&Hs are frickin' awesome. Our ghetto-fabulous party was definitely a success lol. The pictures are priceless, I'm glad I have them. Love you girls:-)

I found videos on You Tube of the best cartoon ever- The Weekenders. Damn both the Disney Channel and Toon Disney for not showing it anymore. Yeah, I still dig cartoons, and I don't care who knows it lol

It needs to be Thanksgiving Break, but when it's Thanksgiving Break that means that Hell Week and the shows are just around the corner and that's just plain scary. Speaking of, the shows are Dec. 1 and 2- Friday and Saturday, 2 on Saturday. They're at 8pm, 2, and 8, respectively. Tickets are $5 all around, so if you wanna come at all, and I really love when people come to the shows, just let me know and I can buy the tickets in advance. And now I should go to bed

Nothing of substance whatsoever, just stuff to pass the time.

ColorQuiz.com I took the free ColorQuiz.com personality test!

Everything, except that sexual activity thing lol, that was explained in this little quiz was frightening accurate. Who knew?

Yup, substance-less posts are my favorite )

I have to reiterate: my friends are the most amazing people I could've ever asked to be in my life. You guys mean more to me than I think some of you realize.:-)

Annnd sleep.

Oh deer...

Hi, this is how stupid I get when sleep doesn't happen in my life:

Me, as I'm walking out of Nik's room: "OW!"
Nik: ::incredulous look my way:: "What did you do?"
M: "My sleeve got caught on the knob thing."
N: " WALK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOORWAY!"
M: "I was..."
N: "Ok, how about you try walking slower, stop being in such a hurry."
M: "Slow and I don't mix. I can't go slow."
N: "Try this then... slow through the door, fast down the hallway."

::Cue my crazy, insomniatic laughter for like 3 minutes::

N: ::turns up TV as I bend over on her bed laughing::

And then...
fineartsfreak04: and apparently lindsey...is borrowing ur shoes
fineartsfreak04: shelbs says she willb e collecting them shen she's done
fineartsfreak04: god am i drunk?? lol
blastrealpants: did you have an alcoholic beverage?
fineartsfreak04: no
fineartsfreak04: but look at how i typed!
fineartsfreak04: lol
blastrealpants: oh deer
fineartsfreak04: haha

In other news, I'm so excited for Friday for several reasons. 1. Photo shoot with Beth. 2. Seeing The Prestige with Ellen (if anyone else would like to come, by all means join us). 3. Halloween party! I just made a really cool CD with emotionary songs for Beth's thing. Beth's a Comm major with a Photography emphasis, and for her senior project she's taking pictures to prove how dance is a form of communication. It should be very fun.

You know how I get bored a lot? )

"Life is hard and so is love, child, but believe in all these things..."

Alright, so here's what's up:

Last weekend was amazing, the pictures speak for it. AIDA, overall, was pretty good. The chick who played Aida got better as the show progressed, but the guy who played Zoser... ugh. The consensus was that he was quite terrible lol. He would sing the same note through the whole song, and it wasn't even a nice note. Radames was amazingly wonderful. I wanted to take him home with me hahaha.

Ellen's party was quite a success. Lots of blob-diving, Cranium, and green frosting mustaches lol. Ellen, I hope you had fun!

Jeff's visit was wonderful. I needed very badly to see him, and it was just very nice:-) We went to the beach on Sunday, and we got this really yummy gelato. Good times. I miss him.

Dec. 29th- Pistons vs. the Pacers at the Palace, Dance Troupe's doing pre-show again. If you'd like a discounted ticket, I'm not sure how much they are yet, let me know and I'll hook you up.

Feb. 10th- MSU Dance Battle. Apparently we're going lol. This should be very interesting, very interesting indeed lol. Hey, we get a t-shirt, so that's cool. If you're at MSU, or if you feel like being a roadie and coming from GV for that matter lol, and you feel inclined to watch us make fools out of ourselves, please come watch!

My love for Gilmore Girls has been rekindled. Last season pretty much sucked, and I'm lovin' the dialogue of these past couple episodes. The storyline I could do without lol, but hopefully everything'll work out how I want. Yeah, I know it's just a TV show...

Also, I've rediscovered BARE all because of Jeffrey Bobick lol. Love it. Apparently it's back off-broadway, which I didn't know. Hopefully a full cast recording will be soon, because eventhough I LOVE my sampler CD I could do with some new songs.

My new favorite word: Videomaswanzaka. Yeah, have fun trying to pronounce that bitch.

Sep. 28th, 2006

bethity

Real quick...

SYTYCD tour: too amazing for words, in fact I have no words for it. The groups, the duets, the solos *with the exception of 2 lol* were fabulous. The dancers emcee'ed it, they were hilarious. So worth the driving and the traffic and the money and the scary-ness that is Detroit at night lol.

This weekend: Jeff comes in on Friday and Aida is Saturday. How more perfect could this get? Only hard part is making it to Friday.

"Milford. What kind of a name is that? Milll-furd. Milll-furd, say it with me. Millll-furrrd."
"Next roadtrip, we're bringing Cheez-Its."
"Where have all the Taco Bells gone?"
"That was spicy."

Good thing my Jazz History test was cancelled, because I forsee no work happening this weekend whatsoever.

I'm almost too tired to even shut my eyes. How sad.
